1. There are usually more than 4 steel wire ropes supporting the elevator, and only one is enough to bear the entire load. If one of them breaks, the safety switch will be triggered to stop the elevator.
2. Even if all the steel wire ropes fail at the same time (in extreme cases), the linkage of the speed limiter triggers the action of the safety clamp to stop the elevator on the guide rail to prevent the elevator from falling at high speed. In addition, an emergency brake device is installed on the drive host.
3. If all the above protection measures have failed, the buffer at the bottom of the well can effectively absorb the impact energy and greatly reduce the damage caused by the impact force.

Will the elevator top out?
Elevator top-rushing refers to the elevator accidentally exceeding the top floor leveling position. This situation is also protected by multiple safety devices. First of all, the elevator has strict limit switches. When approaching the top floor, the first-level deceleration switch will trigger deceleration, and the second-level limit switch will force a stop. If the brake is still not applied, the limit switch will cut off the power supply and completely stop the elevator. Secondly, the emergency braking device equipped with the drive host will immediately act when overspeed or abnormal operation is detected, and force the elevator to stop through a mechanical brake. Finally, even if the above device fails, the top floor is also equipped with a buffer device similar to the principle of the bottom buffer, which can absorb the impact of the top-rushing. These multiple protections reduce the risk of elevator top-rushing to an extremely low level.
